چکیده

Note Amplification of 2p13-16 has frequently been found in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, mediastinal thymic B-cell lymphoma and in some cases of neuroblastoma, ovarian cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck, non-small cell lung cancer and synovial sarcoma (Knuutila et al., 1998). Translocations and deletions of region 2p12 were found in acute and chronic lymphocytic leukaemias as well as nonlymphocytic leukaemia and Hodgkin disease (Shapiro et al., 1994). Genetic variations on chromosome 2p12-p13 have been associated with the development of Parkinson's disease (Gasser et al., 1998), Miyoshi myopathy, limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (Liu et al., 1998), Welander myopathy (Ahlberg et al., 1999), acute lymphoblastic childhood leukaemia (Inaba et al., 1991), chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (Richardson et al., 1992) and Burkitt's lymphomas (Lenoir et al., 1982).

The HtrA (DegP) protein, essential for Escherichia coli survival at high temperatures, is an endopeptidase.

As a preliminary step in the understanding of the function of the Escherichia coli HtrA (DegP) protein, which is indispensable for bacterial survival only at elevated temperatures, the protein was purified and partially characterized. The HtrA protein was purified from cells carrying the htrA gene cloned into a multicopy plasmid, resulting in its overproduction. The sequence of the 13 N-termina...

Overexpression of serine protease HtrA enhances disruption of adherens junctions, paracellular transmigration and type IV secretion of CagA by Helicobacter pylori

BACKGROUND The serine protease HtrA is an important factor for regulating stress responses and protein quality control in bacteria. In recent studies, we have demonstrated that the gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori can secrete HtrA into the extracellular environment, where it cleaves-off the ectodomain of the tumor suppressor and adherens junction protein E-cadherin on gastric epithelial cel...

The impact of serine protease HtrA in apoptosis, intestinal immune responses and extra-intestinal histopathology during Campylobacter jejuni infection of infant mice

BACKGROUND Campylobacter jejuni has emerged as a leading cause of bacterial enterocolitis. The serine protease HtrA has been shown to be a pivotal, novel C. jejuni virulence factor involved in cell invasion and transmigration across polarised epithelial cells in vitro. However, the functional relevance of the htrA gene for the interaction of C. jejuni with the host immune system in the infant m...

Expression of Helicobacter pylori Serine Protease HtrA in Campylobacter jejuni Reveals a Crucial

Aim: The gastrointestinal pathogens Helicobacter pylori and Campylobacter jejuni secrete serine protease HtrA into the extracellular space, where it cleaves the adherens junction protein E-cadherin. However, while htrA can be mutagenized in C. jejuni, htrA is an essential gene in H. pylori and rapid research progress on HtrA functions is hindered by the nonexistence of ΔhtrA deletion mutants in...

Bacteriocin activity of Streptococcus pneumoniae is controlled by the serine protease HtrA via posttranscriptional regulation.

The blp locus of a type 6A strain of Streptococcus pneumoniae encodes a two-peptide bacteriocin, pneumocin MN, which mediates intraspecies competition during mouse nasopharyngeal colonization. This locus is regulated by a quorum-sensing mechanism consisting of a dedicated two-component regulatory system and a peptide pheromone. Like most clinical isolates, this type 6A strain can be separated i...

Molecular characterization of a stress-inducible gene from Lactobacillus helveticus.

A gene (htrA) coding for a stress-inducible HtrA-like protein from Lactobacillus helveticus CNRZ32 was cloned, sequenced, and characterized. The deduced amino acid sequence of the gene exhibited 30% identity with the HtrA protein from Escherichia coli; the putative catalytic triad and a PDZ domain that characterize the HtrA family of known bacterial serine proteases were also found in the seque...
